How do I verify a call wasn't edited?

Not yet. The daily fingerprints are public, but the call records and our verification tools aren't published yet, and Proof of Call hasn't launched. Once they are, you'll be able to check a call against the published fingerprints without trusting us. Here's how it's designed to work.

Details

What you'll check against: the daily heads in the public repository github.com/nothingbutalpha/ledger-heads (file heads/heads.jsonl). Copies held by independent archives and by anyone who clones it are what stop us from quietly rewriting it.

Checking one call (planned):

  1. Get the call's id and hash from its receipt or permalink.
  2. Get its inclusion proof. The planned MCP tool verify_call returns the hash, the proof and the anchored head.
  3. Recompute: hash the call's record, combine it with the proof to get the day's Merkle root, and confirm that root matches the head published for that day.

Checking the whole ledger (planned): a standalone verifier, using only the Python standard library, re-checks encoding, the hash chain, daily heads, duplicate calls and backfilled-as-live, and confirms every head you saw published is still present.
