What is the ledger-heads repository on GitHub?
It's the public place where we publish the ledger's daily fingerprint: github.com/nothingbutalpha/ledger-heads. Each line is one sealed day's "head". It contains only hashes and counts, never the calls themselves.
Details
- Why public: once a day's head is published and copied by others, changing any earlier record would change that head, and the mismatch would show up when anyone verifies.
- What's in a head: the day, record count, the hash of the last record, the day's Merkle root, the hash of the day's file, and the previous head's hash.
- Cadence: scheduled jobs seal each finished UTC day and push its head, nightly. Weekends and holidays are sealed too, so every day has a head.
- Status: heads are published from the start of live recording, which was switched on in October 2026. See Is the ledger recording yet?
- Why heads only: hashes reveal nothing about the calls, so the fingerprints can be public before the records they commit to are shown.
